James,
This Smooth Green snake was found at Fort McCoy (an army base) in Wisconsin. Fort McCoy is near Sparta. It was found along a restricted tank-access road (we had clearance). The roads were very sandy and were only sporadically traversed. It was an overcast day in the mid 20's.
This DeKay's snake was found in Cedar Bog, Ohio (a natural reserve near Urbana). It was found in a stack of sheet metal (also containing 9 five-lined skinks). The day was very rainy and cold (10-15 degrees).
Cheers,
Ryan M Bolton
