San Jose Reptile Show - Great Deals - Santa Clara Fairgrounds - THIS WEEKEND! |

I got into Toronto today where I was greeted by my cousins and Grandpa. We started driving towards Tweed and about 3/4 of the way there, I saw a snake on the side of the road. So my Grandpa stopped and drove back and I ran to check it out. I looked and saw what I thought was plastic snake at first (I'm too used to seeing garters and water snakes) but upon closer inspection, to my horror I discovered it was a DOR Eastern Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum). It was dead, but at least it's a milk snake! The first snake of the trip was one that I have been hoping to find for 3 years, but unfortunately it was dead. Later that night when we arrived in Tweed we were walking to a dock to go fishing and my cousin Sarah spotted a leopard frog, which quickly jumped into the water. Later we heard a Bull frog and a green frog. So in one afternoon after I arrived, not even expecting to see herps the first day, the totals are as follows:
1 DOR Easter Milk Snake
1 Leopard frog
1 Green frog (heard)
1 Bull frog (heard)
Tomorrow we are heading out to look for water snakes, I'll report again then.
