Yes five lines are nice, but best left in situ.
I had been doing some work for the Ontario Herpetofauna summary
many years back and was observing some 5 lines in victoria county lutterworth
township.(Haliburton)
Observations were made weekly and maturnal protection was observed.
One weekend all the rocks in the vicintiy had been flipped(human habitat interference)
I found my clutch, all alone and without cover...The eggs were all caving in, so I scooped them
thinking they were dehydrating and about to perish...
I packed them in moist sphagnum and took them home...
When I arrived in TO, I had 4 baby skinks..... with gorgeous bright blue tails characteristic
to many Eumeces.
They ate a few pin head crickets, and were released the next weekend..
Obviously the eggs were pre-pipping, and not dehydrated...
PS
I replaced all the flipped rocks to their original positions.but they were eventually all removed, for somebodies lake side
patio. (arg..damn humans)
Ontario five lines are frequently found in rocky areas near water.
They are most evident in the couple weeks of fertility in late May
